Project Summary
Atlantic performed the full removal and replacement of the terrace roofing and waterproofing systems at the Pentagon Mall Terrace, located at the ceremonial and Joint Chiefs of Staff entrance of the Pentagon. The project required maintaining watertight conditions throughout construction within one of the most secure federal facilities in the world.
The scope included removal of existing roofing and overburden, installation of 21,000 sq. ft. of hot-fluid applied roofing with insulation and protection layers, placement of a new concrete topping slab, and integration of new expansion joints, sealant joints, and dampproofing tied into adjacent limestone panels. Work demanded tight sequencing to ensure continuous protection of occupied and mission-critical spaces below. The project presented exceptional complexity — combining large-scale waterproofing, integrated structural and architectural systems, and full compliance with Pentagon security protocols requiring U.S. citizen-only labor. All work was executed under strict safety oversight and a comprehensive quality control plan that verified each phase of installation. The project was completed on time and without incident, demonstrating Atlantic’s capability to deliver high-performance roofing and waterproofing systems in secure, occupied, and high-profile federal environments.
